5 days training plus 1 day NPTC assessment – Unit 203.
This is a popular course for those who wish to learn how to climb trees and become tree surgeons or supporting groundstaff. This is a prerequisite to progress onto Chainsaw from a rope and harness training and assessment (Unit 204).
Day 1: Introduction to risk assessments, legislation, climbing theory and climbing equipment followed by climbing knots and practise of climbing trees and rope management skills.
Day 2: Continued climbing practise with branch walking and aerial rescue techniques.
Day 3: Continued climbing practise and rescuing climbers from poles using spikes and belays.
Day 4: Continued climbing practise, aerial rescue and pole rescue.
Day 5: Continued climbing practice with the opportunity for a mock assessment to fully prepare you for your assessment.
