This is a popular 2 day chainsaw training course with an optional certified City and Guilds assessment on day 3.
This course is designed to give those who own and use a chainsaw, instruction on its safe use. It is ideal for domestic users and those who use chainsaws occasionally such as conservation groups, farmers and fencing contractors. N.B this is not a professional qualification for tree work employees involved in tree surgery or forestry.
Day one covers a morning of risk assessment, legislation, key components of chainsaws, their inspection and maintenance, chain sharpening. Afternoon of safe starting procedures and safe felling (up to 150mm diameter) and crosscutting practise.
Day two covers recapping of day one’s chainsaw maintenance and continued tree felling (up to 150mm diameter).
Day three is an assessment day with an NPTC City and Guilds assessor.
You will need to bring your own Personal Protective Equipment, although we have a small quantity in stock, which you can hire at a small charge. Chainsaws and equipment are all provided at no charge. You are welcome to bring your own (working) chainsaw along to the course if you wish.
